Hole #1 - 295 Yard Par 4
Most unique starting hole in golf!! It's a short, sharp dog leg
right, giving you the option to drive the green if you dare. A creek
comes into play behind the green and out of bounds down right side.
The safe play is hitting an iron to fairway, giving you a wedge
to green.
Hole #2 - 384 Yard Par 4
This #1 handicap hole is a good test. It's a dog leg right with a lateral hazard down the entire right side. The tee shot forces a carry of about 150 yards. Don't be short. Once you've made the fairway an elevated green will be your target with bunkers on left and hazard on right.
Hole #3 - 543 Yard Par 5
The tee shot is key due to a large lake on left side which comes into play only 200 yards off the tee. The hole continues all the way around the lake to left. There are no fairway or green side bunkers on this hole, so if you stay dry you'll be fine.
Hole #4 - 133 Yard Par 3
A short but sneaky tough hole. You have to deal with water on right and out of bounds on left. The green has quite a few humps and bumps to make a 2-putt par not that easy.
Hole #5 - 516 Yard Par 5
A dog leg right that is reachable with two solid shots. Don't go right though, with interior out of bounds down right side up to 150 yards from green. A lateral hazard runs down entire left side. A four is a great score!
Hole #6 - 352 Yard Par 4
A good birdie hole if you stay dry off tee. Two lakes come into play, one on each side of fairway. Pay attention to pin placement on sixth hole due to a two-tiered green. If you're on the wrong tier it could spoil your chance at par.
Hole #7 - 183 Yard Par 3
This long par 3 has a large, rolling green. Bunkers guard the front right, with oak trees on left. When you reach the green you'll face three different levels. Watch out if the pin is all the way in back!
Hole #8 - 393 Yard Par 4
This slight dog leg right is heavily tree-line with a grass depression down right side. The large green, rewards a close shot. One needs to protect against going long due to a hazard.
Hole #9 - 341 Yard Par 4
The tee shot forces a carry of about 125. You don't need a driver, though. There are three huge bunkers crossing the fairway 220 yards out. Any shot going left will be walled off from green due to a huge tree in front,. The number nine green is probably the smallest and most undulating of all the holes. Take par and run to next tee!
Hole #10 - 425 Yard Par 4
The tenth is no easy start to the back nine. The tee shot forces a lay up with a 3-wood or long iron in front of a creek. The second shot is usually a longer distance to green than what was hit off tee. The shot has to go through a chute of large oak trees to a big green protected by a gaping front right trap. Like I said, no easy start.
Hole #11 - 402 Yard Par 4
This straight away par four is a little breather after tenth. The fairway is wide with a slight bend to left. The green is guarded by a large front right bunker that will swallow up anything weak. The prudent play is to the middle of green regardless of the pin placement.
Hole #12 - 421 Yard Par 4
The twelfth is a good test with trees down both sides, and the creek runs down right side all the way to green. The hole does have a generous fairway to "give one a ride", but make sure you aim a little to right as the tees send you down the left rough.
Hole #13 - 158 Yard Par 3
This is our prettiest hole by far as it goes over a creek and through oak trees. The green slopes from back to front. Any approach that lands short might roll back into creek!
Hole #14 - 376 Yard Par 4
This medium length dog leg left has the only other fairway bunker on course besides number nine. Don't find yourself in it because it's big and strategically placed, right in the middle of the fairway! If you stay right it sets up an easy approach to a flat green. Golfers need to protect from going long over the green due to out of bounds.
Hole #15 - 544 Yard Par 5
The longest hole on course means you've got to hit three solid, straight shots. Not one, but two lakes come into play down entire right side. The left side has out of bounds down it.
Hole #16 - 391 Yard Par 4
This hole requires accuracy and calm nerves. The tee shot needs to be placed between a lake on right and out of bounds of left. If you can manage the tee shot successfully, you're then faced with a shot over the same lake that needs to be carried 150-200 yards. A tip for the tee shot is to stay left as there is more fairway over there than you can see off the tee.
Hole #17 - 168 Yard Par 3
The seventeenth hole is over water to a wide, but narrow green. A menacing trap keeps the right side protected with out of bounds over back of green. A safe shot is to the center, since numerous pin placements are used around parameter of green.
Hole #18 - 501 Yard Par 5
This finish to Cherry Island is a risk/reward hole than can produce
an eagle or your ball in pocket. A creek runs down both sides of
the fairway as it turns to left. A narrow fairway awaits your approach,
with a large oak sitting at corner of bend. The middle and right
portion of green is protected by a bunker with a very high lip.
Your best chance at birdie is to play toward left side of green
to use entire width for approach to any pin placement.
