Dave Rider joined the Empire Golf Inc. family in 1999 as an assistant professional at Ancil Hoffman golf course. In 2006 Dave was named the Director of Golf and now oversees the Restaurant & Golf Operations at La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs. A native of Carmichael California, Dave attended Sacramento State University where he earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Improved customer service, tournament operations, merchandising and player development programs are hallmarks of Dave's efforts as the Head Golf Professional of La Contenta Golf Course. Dave and his wife Sherry now reside on La Contenta Golf Course
Phil Sponseller joined the Empire Golf Inc. family in 1998 as shop manager of Ancil Hoffman golf course, and was promoted to Head Professional that same year. He briefly left the company from 2001 - 2005, and has rejoined the company as Head Golf Professional at La Contenta Golf Club on June 1st, 2006. A native of Sacramento, Phil attended Bella Vista High School and enjoyed some success in baseball. After high school Phil joined the Air Force and was stationed at Beale AFB. Phil attended UCD after seperating from the military, and began playing semi-pro baseball in the Sacramento area for over 10 years. Phil joined the PGA in 1985 and earned his PGA membership in 1995. Now Phil resides in Valley Springs with his fiance Cari, and her two children. Clifford A. Rourke, Golf Course Superintendent
Cliff Rourke has been a member of the Empire Golf Management Team since 1998. As the Golf Course Superintendent, Cliff is directly responsible for all golf course maintenance and construction projects at La Contenta.
Cliff received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Planning and Management from the University of California at Davis in 1979. He is a Class A Member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America with over twenty years of experience in turf grass management.
Cliff is a sports fan who enjoys watching baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and golf. He is also a very accomplished bowler, with four perfect games to his credit. In his spare time, Cliff likes reading books, doing yard work, and fixing things around the house. Cliff and his wife, Cyndi, live in Valley Springs.
